Ways to Give

The inspiring school teacher, a postman with a warm smile, a caring bus driver, or a beloved uncle or aunt – all seek ongoing opportunities to continue learning, serving, growing, and sharing the joys of friendship. Aging is inevitable, but how we age is not.

Shepherd’s Centers celebrate the power of aging with programs that promote social connections, healthy aging, lifelong learning and volunteer engagement–the things that give life meaning so we can all age well.

When you give to Shepherd’s Centers of America, a national, community-based network committed to empowering older adults to connect to the things that matter most, you help make their lives better. Stronger. Safer. Happier. More vibrant. Make a donation today.

Monthly Giving

Make your gift go even further by giving monthly to support caring connections for older adults. As a year-round champion, you become a member of SCA’s Friendship Circle and will be provided with quarterly updates on the impact of your gift. We’ll share stories of inspiring retired school teachers, the former postman who always wore a warm smile, your caring bus drivers, and maybe even your beloved uncle or grandmother!

It’s easy to sign up and hassle-free — your credit card will be charged each month and you can modify your gift at any time.

Honor or Memorial Gifts

You can remember someone special by making a gift to Shepherd’s Centers of
America in their name.
Those who inspire you have a special place in your heart. It may have been an
understanding school teacher who always told you you could. Perhaps it was the
postman who always came by with a smile no matter the weather. Maybe it’s the
caring bus driver who always calls you by name. Or maybe it’s a beloved uncle or
aunt who helped shape your life.

With a gift in honor or memory of someone special, you’re showing how to pass
this inspiration on to help others. Whether you’re celebrating aging with another
birthday, or honoring the memory of someone special, your gift will inspire caring
connections for more older adults.

Planned Giving

Hands holding up letters that spell "GIVE"Joining Shepherd’s Centers of America’s Cole Legacy Society is as simple as a promise: a commitment supporting SCA with a planned gift to provide a lasting impact connecting older adults to our network.
Your planned gift can take many forms. In addition to an outright, tax-deductible cash or credit card gift, there are other creative ways for you to give, including:
•       Bequest Through Your Will (can we link to a document with info in below below?)
•       Gift of Real Estate or Personal Property
•       Retirement Account/IRA
•       Stock, Bond & Mutual Fund Gift
•       Gift of Life Insurance

Bequests can be made easily through your will in one of these ways:

  • A SPECIFIC BEQUEST OF MONEY, SECURITY, PIECE OF REAL ESTATE, OR OTHER ASSET: “I leave (dollar-amount or asset) to
Shepherd’s Centers of America, 5559 NW Barry Road, Box #333, Kansas City, MO 64154, Tax ID#43-1056482, to be used for its general purposes.”
  • A PERCENTAGE OF AN ESTATE: “I give and bequeath to Shepherd’s Centers of America, 5559 NW Barry Road, Box #333, Kansas
City, MO 64154,, Tax ID#43-1056482, a percentage of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to be used for its general purposes.”
  • A RESIDUAL BEQUEST MADE FROM WHAT IS LEFT IN AN ESTATE AFTER ALL OTHER BEQUESTS HAVE BEEN MADE: “All the rest,
residue and remainder of my estate, real and personal, I give, devise and bequeath to Shepherd’s Centers of America, 5559 NW
Barry Road, Box #333, Kansas City, MO 64154, Tax ID#43-1056482, to be used for its general purposes.”

A bequest costs you nothing now yet gives you the satisfaction of knowing you have provided for Shepherd’s Centers of America
in the future. You retain control of and use of your assets during your lifetime and you may modify your bequest if your circumstances change.

Planned gifts may also minimize or eliminate the burden of estate taxes on your heirs, could help preserve your wealth, and will
certainly preserve your values for generations to come. Regardless of the type of gift, know that your participation in Shepherd’s
Center’s Cole Legacy Society will leave an indelible mark on the future and the lives your gift will help.

If you let us know you are joining us with a Legacy gift, we’ll be able to thank you and honor your generosity and commitment
by naming you as an esteemed member of our Cole Legacy Society. Receive recognition in our annual report, on our website, at
annual meetings, and other opportunities as available.

Please consult your financial advisor and attorney to determine the best options for you and your estate.
