Living a Life that Matters – Become a Volunteer Today!

VolunteerFrom providing a ride to a doctor’s appointment or making a friendly phone call, Shepherd’s Centers of America invites you to share your time and talent with elderly people in your community.  Volunteers are the key component to the success of our member network.  Whether you can give a few hours a week or a couple of days a year, SCA would like to encourage you to contact a Shepherd’s Center in your area.  We have a variety of volunteer opportunities, but availability may vary from center to center.  Become a volunteer today!

The Impact Volunteers Make in Washington D.C.

Diana is a client in her 80's who is legally blind and recovering from a shattered hip. She was referred to our Shepherd's Center by a social worker from the subsidized housing complex where she lives. As volunteers we are able to provide care, support, and friendship to Diana by providing services such as: shopping, decluttering, handy helpers, record keeping, friendly visitors and callers. We affectionately call the volunteers who help her 'Team Diana'.

In a conversation with a Shepherd's Center staff member Diana said "You've thrown me a lifeline! I don't know what I would have done without the help Shepherd's Center and their volunteers".
