ur Mission: The Shepherd’s Center of Fall River, a Faith in Action® Program, with its partner congregations and organizations, exists to improve the image of aging and empower mid-life and older adults to use their talents, skills and wisdom for the good of their peers, the community and themselves.

Three women at tableAbout Us: we are an interfaith, not-for profit organization established by and for older adults. The Shepherd’s Center network is not a place. In many places - libraries, church buildings, high rises, community centers - Shepherd’s Center members enrich their lives by learning new skills, sharing their gifts and celebrating the blessings of all their years.

Citizens of all faiths -- and all ages -- benefit from exchanging the insights and wisdom gained on life’s journeys. The deep roots and new wings of each person continue to strengthen and vitalize all our congregations and our entire community.

What We Do: Talk with the people at the Shepherd’s Center and you will find men and women studying local history, sharing spiritual journeys, learning foreign languages, practicing tai chi, writing memoirs, or discovering how to use a computer.

In the community you will meet volunteers delivering meals and groceries, repairing houses, planting gardens, providing transportation and offering companionship. And you will see that the volunteers doing all these things - teaching, learning, helping, giving and receiving - are older adults themselves. The people who participate in these activities also plan and develop the programs to best match the talents, resources and needs of their peers and their community.

Two women at tableA variety of workshops stimulate the intellect and promote lifelong learning. Exercise classes and health programs help people cope with chronic illness and develop healthier lifestyles. Home services support people who remain in their homes.

Most important, older adults enjoy empowerment as they draw upon a lifetime of skills and stories to share with the community.

You’re Invited: Come to our Fellowship Meetings at one of our partner congregations or high rises. Bring your ideas, your stories, your laughter - and your friends!

Come visit our classes and workshops in collaboration with the Lifetime Learning program. We encourage a continuation of learning in the later years, contributing to a more meaningful and fulfilling life. Through Lifetime Learning, we provide stimulating educational programs that feed the mind, body and spirit. Our teachers are local business professionals and retired craftsmen who give of their time and talent to help us to create a unique program. Classes are offered twice yearly -- Spring and Fall.
